What makes the balisong or butterfly knife so cool is the myriad of tricks, flourishes and combinations that a knife with two handles opens up. For many years people have been building on the traditional openings developed in the Phillipines into a unique form of flow based art.

While the scope of the tricks that can be learned are nearly infinite. Its best to start with a few basics tricks. This will give you the foundation to begin your flipping journey.

Since I am an old head in the balisong space I can’t help but push people to check out the unique style of Vincent Dark.

Vincent went by Bitehandle on Youtube and while he is no longer active is style of flipping against a black backdrop is so pervasive in balisong flipping videos that he should certainly be studied for both his unique style and his visual acument and video editing.

Vincent was known for black backdrops, incorporating loose style, big aerials an fire in his videos.

Another Balisong Flipping Tutorial Classic is Cutlery Lover Jeff. Jeff was one of the most prolific content producers during the early renaisance of balisong or butterfly knife flipping.

Jeffs tutorials are simple and straightforward. They are a great jumping off point for those looking to start learning the basics.
