FOR FLIPPERS BY FLIPPERS

Bladerunners Website – Pretty much every.

-=BRS=- burst onto the scene when two OGs in the balisong flipping scene Ed Anthonis aka Looseyful and Lawrence Ho aka Knifezoid spotted an unfulfilled niche and decided that the Balisong market was ready to support a new direction and a new company.

Our goal has always been to create high performance balisongs…balance, precision and quality.

Lawrence Ho Co-Founder -=BRS=-

The two got to work dreaming up how to take balisongs they had cut their teeth on like the venerable Benchmade model 42 and reimagine them. Make them better.

Fed by ideas and inspiration found in the balisong flipping scene the original Alpha Beast was born somewhere in the ether. Lawrence an Ed teamed up with a well known balisong maker Matt Cook to bring their initial idea of a purpose driven balisong to life.

From one idea two balisongs were initially birthed- one raw titanium and one green.

That idea manifest itself as two original prototypes for what would eventually become the production blockbuster. The Alpha Beast Balisong.

These two initial balisongs featured titanium handles and were built using a customary balisong form factor known as sandwich. Four titanium handles with iconic milled chevrons were paired to an iconic scimitar style blade that was hand ground.

These two balisongs were built for two very special customers of Bladerunner Systems – Jerzee Devil Forum Members CDRGlock and Raoul Duke.

From those two embers the spark of fire for flipper forward balisongs caught and the company blazed a path towards market dominance.

Immediately Jerzee Devil forum members clamored for more knives and a small production run of semi custom knives were presold on the forum. These knives set the foundation and would become known as the Dirty Dozen. Members of the forum lined up to buy them and the dozen or so knives sold almost immediately.

Another small run was organized and the company was off to races.

The demand for flipper forward Balisongs was there, social media sites like Youtube and Instagram were exploding and the ability to promote the sport and the company was at a unique crossroads.

Ed and Larry got to work executing on a plan to bring thier years of experience to ever widening audiences and get more and more butterfly knives into flippers hands.

They nailed down their prototypes and went to work building relationships with manufacturers, distributors to make sure that the business was viable.

customized BRS Alpha Beast

After the semi-production Alpha Beast balisong runs, they developed, manufactured and distributed through retailers a production alpha beast.

Despite a few early hiccups like Phosphorus Bronze Bushings that mushroomed with use, -=BRS=- was able to overcome them and deliver what is still considered the king of kings – The -=BRS=- Alpha Beast Production Balisongs.

After the Beast, Ed & Larry would tease and ultimately release the Replicant Balisong before creating the Barebones Balisong to serve different segments of the market. Over the years different variants like Channel Alpha Beasts, Hybrid Replicants, and aluminum channel Barebones came along.

-=Bladerunners Systems=- at this point is still first and foremost a balisong company but they have now expanded into automatics, folders, fixed blade knives and other merch.
